What to do in Marrakech, Medina

In our 5 days trip to Marrakech, we stayed at a cozy Riad (questhouse) in Medina (old town). Lazy travellers as we are, we stayed the most of the time inside of the walls of the Medina, protected by UNESCO.

Medina in Marrakech is like a giant labyrinth with its endless alleys. Surprisingly, we got used to it quite soon after getting lost for a couple of times. In the middle of chaoticness, there is some sort of a weird logic.

Medina reminded me a bit of India; except the price level was a way higher. Even we weren't there on a high season. I was completely surprised by the price range overall to be honest - which what so ever was a bit lower than in UK or Finland.

The colourful alleys of Medina were full of cute little shops with handcraft, spices, oils food, and bad quality fake items from every possible brand. Medina definitely isn't a shopper's paradise for those whom like purchasing 1st quality fake goods. China it would be then. I probably purchased one bottle of Argan Oil and that's about it.

The place overall is just so huge and full of little details, that you easily spend a couple of days by just strolling and looking around. Once we got bored, we went to this little more prestige Hammam (SPA) outside of the walls of Medina for a couple treatment. It was a weird but not too weird experience; laying in the steamed room naked with your partner when a good looking Morroccoan lady washes us by turns. Even I'm Finnish and used to naked sauna experiences - this felt a bit pervert even for me. And seriously, this was a fancy SPA, not the ones where assumingly some men go to. Anyway, relaxing experience overall - my preggy body was thankful!
